Boris Nemtzov

We don't know who gave the order to murder Boris Nemtzov.

Here is what we do know:

1. In the past Russian government didn't shy away from breaking the law to compromise Nemtzov. FSB recorded his cellphone conversations and published extracts containing swearing.

2. When Putin murders out of vengeance, he likes to leave a clue that it was him so that he can present it as a lesson to others. Po-210 was used to murder Litvinenko.

Nemtzov was murdered right next to the Kremlin. That would have been very hard for someone without access to Nemtzov's communications and knowledge of his route; ordinary criminals usually kill targets on the porch of the target's dwelling.

3. For that matter, professionals wouldn't select the constantly monitored center of Moscow, unless they had reasons to believe they won't be punished.

The murderer of Litvinenko is an MP in the Russian Duma.

George Galloway: my day ruined by Texans!

Quite a sweet tee hee moment:

They’re all out tonight; the Tory vermin, the UKIP proto-fascists, their Scots counterparts, the actual fascists, even Texans!
Texans... imagine that!

Murder of Boris Nemtsov and "Who will rid me of this meddlesome priest?"

It is not that a murder on the streets of Moscow is a rare occurrence these days. Even if it was especially brazen and carried out in the center of the capital, in view of the Kremlin. No one is safe, and the fact that Boris Nemtsov was one of the few remaining opposition leaders doesn't really preclude the possibility of a "mundane" criminal act.

Until you see what Putin's propaganda machine is already churning out, and who better than the slobberingly slavish "Izvestiya"? The blood on the cobblestones is still warm, but the "highly placed sources in the law enforcement" are already up to the task with 3 (three!) possible scenarios of the crime.

Version 1:

The girl who was with Boris Nemtsov at the time of the murder is a citizen of Ukraine. As we have seen, she flew recently from Moscow to Switzerland to have an abortion. Was Nemtsov her only partner? - the investigators will find out, but we do not exclude the possibility of a domestic conflict, because it could be the case - said a senior source in the law enforcement agencies.

Version 2:

Boris Nemtsov himself traveled to Ukraine more than once, and it is no secret that he was in active contacts with representatives of the local political and business elite, belonging to the "war party".

They could provided him the [monetary] means to destabilize the situation in Russia. For the money, Ukrainian oligarchs might well expect that Nemtsov will split the Russian society. However, not only the split did not happen, but the opposite is happening - the consolidation of Russian society. Realizing that they are not getting results, Nemtsov's sponsors could have removed the politician for failing to carry out the task, - says the second scenario.

Version 3:

This could be a contract killing which was aimed as a blow to the powers that be through a provocation. External and internal opponents could have chosen the "victim" to destabilize the situation in Russia. However, the choice of the object for this purpose is surprising. Against the background of the current government's record ratings, Nemtsov was, in fact, an average person, whose role in society was minimal, - says the source.

Some dirt, some cheap political mystery and some doubt: a propaganda machine masterwork, worthy of the best of them. And all that practically in no time...

As for the  "Who will rid me of this meddlesome priest?": nah, there is really no need for the royalty to utter something in this vein these days. The sophistication of modern politics is such that a well-trained vassal can read the royal looks, royal twitches and royal farts.

Chapeau, Vladimir Vladimirovich!

Naomi Wolf and the flood libel

To make it less of a standard post, I shall start from its end:

Click on the image to read the text

Of course, the tradition of whining about the cruel Zionists opening some (non-existent) dams to flood the poor defenseless Gazans is not going to stop with this retraction by Al Jazz, no matter how unique it is. The libel didn't start this year and it isn't going to stop this year.

Clearly, the pro-Palestinian propaganda masters have learned very well the Nazi maxim: if you repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it, and you will even come to believe it yourself. So - invent a lie, add a few tear-jerking photographs (not to forget the Flat Fatima, of course), and you are in business. After a few years, everyone will accept your lie.

And don't mind the absurdities you might commit on the way, like this:
A writer at Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper outdid the other reports, contorting herself into knots to tie the flooding in with Israel’s Electric Corporation temporarily suspending service to West Banks cities Nablus and Jenin.
So the flooding of Gaza will continue every year, as it continues with Israel, to a lesser degree every year I have to add, due to Israeli city planners doing something about the drainage - slowly but still doing. Which brings me to the next issue related to Gaza floods: drainage in Gaza. Somehow almost no one seems to raise that question: how come year after year the same neighborhoods in Gaza keep being flooded without any remedy? After all, all that is needed is concrete and steel in sufficient quantities to build a robust drainage system. Drainage systems are built since times immemorial quite successfully all over the world, so what are the excuses for Gaza not to have some of them? To remind you? Here goes the concrete:

And here goes the steel:

COLLECTION OF QASSAM ROCKETS FIRED AT SDEROT

But again, the Israel-haters aren't to be stopped by trifles like these, and while we speak, the incomparable Naomi Wolf is already busy deflecting the unfortunate Al Jazz retraction by working around it.
As I noted below, we understand the retraction about 'dams'. Several citizen reporters including aid organizations have confirmed the existence or irrigations "channels" or "canals" and as always I think we keep an eye on reporting out the flooding till we confirm the source -- natural, not natural, accidental, etc -- of this very unusual flooding...'Sayumi Takahashi Harb I found this, which indicates that there is a system of pumps used to divert water into irrigation channels. "The top photo shows Naomi and Ornat Morag at a reservoir near theBesor River. The reservoir holds up to 4,000,000 cubic meters of water. The central photo shows the water capturing system along the BesorRiver. Rather than a dam to hold and capture water, some of the water which comes down the river after a rain is diverted into a holding pondand then pumped into the reservoir or into irrigation channels. The bottom photo shows irrigated fruit trees growing nearby.
Then Ms Wolf refers to a blog post about the Israeli flower growers in the Negev desert as some kind of proof of Israelis being able to flood Gaza at will.

All this may sound as an absurd ranting of a brain short of a few grey cells, and it certainly is just that. But check out the amazing retinue Ms Wolf has developed, most of them sworn haters of Israel, and you shall see how quickly and uncritically the most unimaginable crapola produced by this feverish brain is absorbed by the adoring masses.

Vile, Ms Wolf, positively vile.

P.S. Here is another example of Wolfish idiocy:
Colm Maguire:" So is there are is there not a dam and was there or was there not flooding. I asked and I was told you guys verified it from countless sources. Now Al jazzera has retracted, so how exactly did the Daily Cloudt verify this numerous times as stated to me just the other day when I questioned the post?"

Naomi Wolf: "Colm what we do here is show multiple sourcing and try to confirm news stories among other things. I had more than two solid sources so I wrote CONFIRMED which is classical journalism.
Classical journalism? Classical assholery, if I may coin a special term...

And so cheap...

Afterword: I hope  Ms Wolf gets her talons into this story as soon as possible. You flood some, you dry out some...

LGBTTQQFAGPBDSM: Wesleyan University leaves pedophiles out in the cold. Protest!

It is with a feeling of discombobulation and chagrin that I follow the latest in the lack of sexual inclusiveness in this hallowed institution of higher learning.

A post on a Wesleyan University webpage advises of an open house for LGBTTQQFAGPBDSM.

No idea what that means? Don’t worry. Wesleyan explained it on its website.

Open House is a safe space for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Transsexual, Queer, Questioning, Flexual, Asexual, Genderf**k, Polyamourous, Bondage/Disciple (sic), Dominance/Submission, Sadism/Masochism (LGBTTQQFAGPBDSM) communities and for people of sexually or gender dissident communities. The goals of Open House include generating interest in a celebration of queer life from the social to the political to the academic. Open House works to create a Wesleyan community that appreciates the variety and vivacity of gender, sex and sexuality.

Oh and be careful of the lead paint.
Lead Paint Disclosure

Housing built before 1978 may contain lead-based paint. Lead from paint, paint chips, and dust can pose health hazards if not taken care of properly. Lead exposure is especially harmful to young children and pregnant women. Before renting pre-1978 housing, landlords must disclose the presence of known lead-based paint and lead-based paint hazards in the dwelling. Tenants must also receive a Federally approved pamphlet on lead poisoning prevention. The pamphlet may be viewed at: http://www.hud.gov/offices/lead/library/enforcement/pyf_eng.pdf. The University recognizes that any housing built prior to 1978 may contain lead-based paint and/or lead-based paint hazards. By accepting your housing contract, you are affirming that you have reviewed the pamphlet Protect Your Family from Lead In Your Home.

All Wesleyan housing was built before 1978 with the exception of the following: Bennet Hall, Fauver Apartments, 19 Fountain Avenue, 20 Fountain Avenue, 25 Fountain Avenue, 231 Pine Street, and 14 Warren Street.

Lead Paint Reports for 154 Church Street
In short, whoever stands behind the initiative, has given a thought to everything. Almost everything, aside of poor unappreciated minority of pedophiles, who are left out in the cold, snowed in streets without a shelter and without a hope...

Yes, and this effort fell short of expectation on another account too:

Peter Beinart and the core message

It's quite an old story, and I recall now that, when I read it first, I have seen pink* and decided to let it stew for a while. I guess that we are after the while now, and the subject could be aired. The Haaretz article by Peter Beinart is titled The next step for liberal Zionists after Gaza: a Freedom Summer with Palestinians. Its lede cuts to the chase:
In an era of direct action, supporters of the two-state solution must start putting their bodies on the line.
The article itself starts with a fairly long and boring discourse on the sorry state of affairs in the sorry domain of the Israeli/Palestinian peace process.

The real meat of the article comes with this "action item" for an undefined body of American Jewish volunteers.
But if thousands of American Jews joined those protests, American Jews would know. Protesters would return home with videos to show their synagogues; hawkish parents would be appalled by the treatment meted out to their children. And the American media, which covers Jews far more intensively than it covers Palestinians, would follow. The model would be Freedom Summer, Robert Moses’ campaign to bring white college students to help register voters in Mississippi in 1964, and thus draw the nation’s eyes to oppression that garnered little media attention when practiced only against blacks.
In short: bring some nice Jewish-American boys and girls into direct contact with easily provoke-able boys and girls of our Border Police, and hey presto: Jewish moms at home will take a look at the iPhone-produced clips of the Border Police depravity toward their babies and raise such a shitstorm - the intractable pro-Zionist AIPAC will just have to become tractable and order Bibi to visit Washington for a spectacular clock cleaning.

You have noticed that I have left unmentioned that crude innuendo of comparing the Israeli/Palestinian situation with the plight of black community in US... and the "preferential" coverage of the Jews by American media. There is some tastier fish to fry in that article.

Here comes a first word of caution re the proposed merger of the American Jewish volunteers with local "freedom fighters":
Such an effort would not be simple. The call for Jewish volunteers would have to come from Palestinian activists themselves. There’s a risk that some protesters would throw stones. Even if American Jews came to support a two state solution, some of the people marching with them would not.
Yeah, definitely a good idea to warn the potential volunteers to avoid throwing stones. Because it is rather unpopular lately in Israel. Might provoke these Border Police fiends even more. But wait, here comes the pearl:
But even if protesters differed on their ultimate goal, the core message—that it is fundamentally unjust to deny people the basic rights that their neighbors enjoy because of their religion or ethnicity—might reach American Jews, and Americans overall, in a way it never has.
Now I think I have seen it all. Well, a good deal of "it", whatever it is. Prof Beinart's methodology is blazing simple. So "some of the people" might not support the two state solution (read "some of the people want Palestine from the river to the sea") - but the core message, the one that both "some people" and Peter Beinart espouse, is just, so the American Jews of conscience might march together with "some people". At least part of the way, and I hope that this "part of the way" is not what I forcibly put into prof Beinart's mouth. As far as no stones are thrown and no direct implementation of "Palestine from the river to the sea" is attempted, why not indeed? Right?

And we can extend this methodology to many other progressive movements that have a potential of carrying a common core message. Take Hamas, for instance: true, some of their messages are difficult to support (for the moment). Like their desire to get rid of the Jews, like all these Qassams and whatnot. But there is a core message of social work, of freedom, of open borders and free movement of goods (only part of which goods will be weapons, so the core message stays clear), of unity and purity etc. Lots and lots of what comprises a solid core message that could be shared by American Jews of good will - for at least part of the way. When Hamas comes to implement the less core bits, they might be better left alone, of course, but for now? The way is clear.

Or take Hezbollah. It's true that they are an illegal cancerous growth in the midst of a sovereign country. But their core message (if you leave aside their penchant for killing infidels, bombing embassies, cultural centers and similar) - isn't their core message good enough to march together with them for quite a long stretch?

Or Mussolini - he has that neat core message of trains... but enough of that. Of course, I have taken the feverish idea of Peter Beinart ad absurdum on purpose. I don't really intend to place any words in his mouth. Just to show that he has seriously crossed the line between the debate on the future of Israel and Palestinians and the domain where different groups of different anti-Zionist shades operate and prosper.

Speaking of crossing the lines, the J-Street, which is so touchingly lauded by prof Beinart in this article, is not averse to schmoozing with BDS supporters. And since prof Beinart himself has already called for a circumcised version of BDS (aimed at settlers only), I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes a fully sworn member of that crowd... but it is early days yet.

In short, dear Peter: it is fine to be worried about the situation here. It is fine to debate and disagree with various Jewish factions in US and Israel. The hallowed Jewish tradition of questioning anything and anybody should be kept up by all means. Joining hands with "some people", euphemistically identified as "ones who don't support two states solution" is far away from being fine.

So there.

(*) I can't say I have seen red when it's about Peter Beinart, can I?

Bill Gates is blasting men's testicles with ultrasound to help de-populate the Earth!

And you didn't hear it from me - but from a troof seeker of Russian RT:

As far as I understand, Bill G. is also, in cahoots with Monsanto, poisoning the peaceful population in the overpopulated areas by GM plants, vaccinating them with a polio vaccine that causes polio, killing crops and thus starving the population, while simultaneously letting them drink the lethal pesticides he provides gratis.

At some stage I collapsed under the weight of all these horrors, so the list is not complete.

But I am confident that Moscow wouldn't let Bill Gates to walk now...

Frankly, I was more impressed by the openness of the student. It is always nice when a person is frank and straightforward. Enjoy.

This discussion spills some light on UCSD too, I would suggest.

Our Weasel Of The Week

It’s time to present this week's statuette of shame, The Golden Weasel!!

Every Tuesday, the Council nominates some of the slimiest, most despicable characters in public life for some deed of evil, cowardice or corruption they’ve performed. Then we vote to single out one particular Weasel for special mention, to whom we award the statuette of shame, our special, 100% plastic Golden Weasel. This week's nominees were all slime-worthy and disgusting, but in the end the overwhelming winner was....the envelope please...

General Marie Harf Through History

My personal fave will be that one, probably:

I came, I saw, I provided significant social welfare benefits and jobs for the Gauls.
But there are a lot of other goodies here. Enjoy.

Update: and yes, it is Bush who is guilty in Ms Harf talking nonsense.
Later in the interview she returned to her "not the first person" argument, pointing out that George W. Bush made the same point.
Now, I think, I've heard everything... nah...

Globalization in a nutshell

From a conversation between two system administrators:

Well, we've checked the situation, and look what we figured out: A Kazakh customer's site, located on a Ukrainian server, was hacked by Turkish hackers, who are based on the Russian segment of the Internet and Russian sites. The funniest thing is that the site in question (which contains materials in English) is dedicated to international brotherhood and common ethnic roots of all people.

The general theory of espionage. And the end of thereof.

This post is very important to all fans of spy thrillers, to all who are mad about Ian Fleming, John le Carré (at least before his conspiracy-ridden years), Robert Ludlum etc. It is even more important to all the naifs who believe that every stupid move by our less than smart politicians will be corrected by wise old people who inhabit their dusty small offices somewhere far from the glitter of the capital and their brawny trusty 007-type braves spread all over the world, ready to spring into action and save us (and the world) again and again. I know this is one illusion that was carefully nurtured in your brain. To part with it could be traumatic, but necessary, so schedule a series of meeting with your shrink, but first read this to the bitter end. It is going to change your life, I can assure you, and if it doesn't - your money back.

The man whose report I am translating is depicted above. His name is Alfred Koch, and some of his bio details appear in the text. More than that I can't tell. So, let's go.

***

I kept thinking: why does Putin call his opponents (whoever they are) - "colleagues"? It sounds somehow too ponderous for humor. And when the same crappy joke is repeated for the umpteenth time, it doesn't even sound funny anymore. And it doesn't work as an insult anymore, because of frequent use. And then it dawned on me: this is simply a part of KGB jargon! They used the nickname "colleagues" for the representatives of the intelligence services of the West. CIA, MI6, BND, what else is there... Ah! Mossad...

But why do they have to call them "colleagues"? After all, "colleague" is your teammate (perhaps a friend), who works with you on the team to solve a problem! And they are the enemies! Who kill each other, stalk, compromise, cheat, put each other in jail ... Wow - some "colleagues"... Why is that? What kind of common problem do they have to solve? Are they on our side of the barricades? I thought a lot about it and that's what I want to tell ...

Long ago, when I was a big boss (Deputy Prime Minister and, at the same time - Chairman of the State Property Committee), the same scene took place once a week in my office in the White House (and in the offices of other deputy prime ministers). My Chief Secretary will come in and, in a subdued voice, inform me that I had a courier with secret government documents waiting for me at the reception. The Old Faithful bowed his head out of respect for State secrets and opened the door.

A dashing lieutenant entered and handed me over a package in exchange for my signature. The package bore the inscription "Federal Security Service." It contained a summary of reports from agents abroad about everything. Who, where, what they said, what intrigues against Russia are invented by our enemies, what hypocrites our friends are, what they say about us behind our backs etc.

I must say that all this gobbledegook wasn't worth shit. All that was old news from the day before yesterday newspapers and magazines. The New York Times, Washington Post, Financial Times, Times, Frankfurter Allgemeine etc.

I, in the State Property Committee, had my own press office, which prepared for me the briefs from today's(!) Western newspapers. And I knew all these Chekist "secrets" three or four days before they were brought to me by the government courier. And my press secretary sent them to me by e-mail, rather than sending a secret courier with an envelope. Of course, no one classified this information as state secret of the highest level.

So what was the difference between these two files: the strictly top-secret FSB reports and frivolous digests by my press service? The point is that they presented the same news differently. My press office wrote: "Süddeutsche Zeitung reports..." And the FSB reports: "As we found out from a source we've recruited..."

And a revelation struck: there is no source at all! All this was bullshit! They do not recruit anyone. They just read the newspapers and on this basis concoct their memorandums to the Centre. And the "recruitment" money goes into their pockets. They even get the newspapers from the trash bins, which explains why the news is always from the day before yesterday. And the money for the newspapers - again, goes into their pockets.

And I've realized that this system exists for decades. They were so confident that the Deputy Prime Minister (a septuagenarian grandfather with the background of a parochial school) will not, under any circumstances, read "New York Times", that they easily sold him crap from NYT editorials, presenting it as information from a top-secret super-influential "source", which required lots of money for the recruitment and lots of time. (Come on there, where is my order of the Red Star and my KGB colonel's shoulder straps...)

Periodically, KGB funded exciting thrillers about their spies and created a mythology about themselves. But now that we know the value of all these Anna Chapman & Co, we understand that all this is BS and it's all about a sinecure. A budget manipulation and a fraud against the taxpayer, clear as baby's tear.

It is enough to check what exactly did Putin do in GDR (what spies did they have - with their Stasi?) To make sure - he went for the "Volga" [the car] and did nothing aside of fucking some German woman with big boobs and fishing in the Elbe ...

But the things are not different with the villains. Remember that idiot Briton, who two years ago was hiding some notes in a fake rock (well, wasn't he an idiot?). Or that CIA report to the US president in 1989 that the Soviet Union is stronger than ever and will last at least another 20 years ... Or the fascinating story about the fact that, when the invasion of Iraq began, it became clear that the American army has no translators from Arabic...

Where I am leading? It is now clear as day why all of them are "colleagues". They're all together in staging a show about themselves and about each other, getting paid from the budget in non-transparent funds and spending them on themselves. That's all. Do you get it? There is nothing more - nothing!

They can do this only because of the existence of each other! This scam has been going on for many years. They are completely dependent on each other. They coordinate all of their actions, demands, captures and exposures. Indeed, they work as a team against all of us. Russians, Americans, Germans, etc.

That's why they are "colleagues". You got it now, I hope?

And if you think that all of the above was a joke, check this.

Former FBI Agent Reveals Who Really Killed JFK. Finally!

I know, you all have grown to distrust headlines like this one. Indeed, the years that passed since the assassination have seen the list of culprits to grow so large that it may take a medium-sized football stadium to organize a reunion.

This time, I think, it is real McCoy.

A retired FBI Agent and Police Chief, who was one of the original investigators in Dallas examining the JFK assassination, stumbles upon records and reports that were doctored. He knows that, because he filed the original reports. His decade long investigation would take him deep into history and to the National Archives and beyond. Step by step he says he learned and can prove that Oswald did not kill JFK.
So now, with appropriate fanfare (drums included) we can disclose the name:

The Truth is Out  Most Agree That JFK Was Killed by the Federal Reserve Banks

(I've kept the original font for authenticity, if you know what I mean)

Read (and watch) the rest of the news in that link above. I shall only confess that I don't know the first thing about the Federal Reserve Banks, not even how many of these things are out there. Be interesting to know how they decided which one of the banks will pull the trigger, who will drive the getaway car and where they will hide the money... oops, no, scratch the last one.

Suffice to say that from now on I shall watch my back to insure that no Federal Reserve Bank follows me too closely.

The President of France Has Spoken The Truth

“I won’t allow words spoken in Israel that allow people to think that Jews don’t have their place in Europe and, in particular, in France,”
Quite.  The article is even accompanied with an expressive photo, illustrating that place.

Obama’s shameless Jewish cheerleaders

Isi Leibler on some Jewish Obama's supporters who pulled all the stops in their drive to earn some brownie points.

While U.S. President Barack Obama determinedly pursues his policy of appeasement, which may enable the world’s most dangerous terrorist state to become a nuclear threshold power, there are Israelis and American Jews who have initiated a campaign against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The campaign calling for the maintenance of bipartisanship toward Israel, is in reality undermining the hitherto strong bipartisan congressional opposition to the catastrophic U.S. policy toward Iran.

Israeli opposition groups and the anti-Netanyahu media are now concentrating their efforts on discrediting and calling on the prime minister to cancel his address to the joint session of Congress scheduled for March 3.

Disregarding the gravity of the negotiations with Iran — the underlying reason for the invitation — they accuse Netanyahu of destroying the U.S.-Israeli relationship by failing to obtain Obama’s advance approval to address Congress (which would never have been forthcoming). The White House even falsely alleged that Netanyahu accepted the invitation before they were aware of it.
More where this came from. Read it all.

Then we'll kill us some Jews too...

The behavior pattern of murderous followers of the branch of Religion of Peace (that is not to be named by certain Western leaders by name) becomes more and more clear.

First they'll murder the infidels who desecrate the memory of the dear Muhammad PBUH in the Charlie Hebdo offices. Then they'll kill a few Jews, just for dessert.

Then they'll murder the infidels who desecrate the memory of the dear Muhammad PBUH at a free speech debate in Copenhagen. Then they'll kill a few Jews, just for the fun of it.

The Rage Boy has grown up, ladies and gentlemen. The Rage Boy is not into shouting and breaking windows anymore. He wants blood.

It doesn't matter anymore how adept you are in not naming the Rage Boy by his real name.

It doesn't matter anymore how subservient your are in acknowledging the Rage Boy's grievances, real or imaginary.

It doesn't matter how quick you switch off the TV in the security of your house, when they show the brown, black and yellow people murdering each other in far away places you shall never visit anyway.

Because the Rage Boy is in your streets now, and you can decide to remain deaf and blind to the danger. Or you can do your best to catch the Rage Boys and put them away for a long time or to kill them, whichever comes first.

Because, no matter the "randomness" and the "smallest extremist fringe" and the "grievances" - you are starting to be afraid, with a good reason.

So face it.

Update: now tell me you are not afraid:
The German city of Braunschweig cancelled a planned carnival parade Sunday because of a “specific threat of an Islamist attack,” police said.
...
Last month, Germany’s biggest carnival procession, in the western city of Cologne, banned a float paying tribute to the slain cartoonists of French magazine Charlie Hebdo due to security fears.

The float design, selected in an online popular vote, featured a man dressed in black with an explosives belt and a drawn gun and a jester shoving a pencil down its barrel.
Thanks to Peter for the update.

Debunking as it should be done

The poster above was presented by a (probably well-meaning) Facebook customer. Follows a great response to this clumsy propaganda attempt by David Sigeti. Enjoy.

This poster is every bit as deceptive as anything the Bush Administration did to convince people to support the occupation of Iraq, and I say this as someone who opposed the second Iraq War and was disgusted by the deception used to justify starting it.

In the first place, the claim of 2.5 million dead in "wars justified by 9/11" (presumably the Afghanistan and Iraq wars) is exaggerated by at least a factor of five or six. 400,000 is probably a high estimate and 500,000 must be very high. Talk about a lack of proportion.

Secondly, the great majority of those killed in the Afghanistan and Iraq wars were innocent Muslim civilians murdered by Islamists who were either our adversaries in the war (Al Qaeda in Iraq and allied groups in their attempt to reimpose Sunni Arab supremacy on the Kurds and Shiite Arabs in Iraq, or the Taliban in their attempt to reimpose a regime of lunatic medieval tyranny and murder in Afghanistan) or were practicing massive reprisals against the former groups, reprisals that we were trying very hard to stop (the Shiite Islamist terrorist groups that were allied with, supplied by, and largely controlled by Iran). Blaming the US for the crimes against humanity committed either by its adversaries or by terrorist groups that the US was trying very hard to suppress is absolute moral cretinism.

Finally, there is the fact that no one would dream of applying a similar argument to almost any other war. Take the US in the second world war, for example. The Japanese killed less than 2000, overwhelmingly combatants, in their attack on Pearl Harbor. The number of Japanese we subsequently killed in the war must have been in the high hundreds of thousands at least, and the number of Germans was probably in the low millions. In addition, the Japanese and Germans killed several hundred thousand Americans, mostly combatants, as well as countless civilians from Allied countries in reprisals connected with our attacks and in fighting our forces. Does this mean that we were wrong to go to war in response to Pearl Harbor?

It is amazing how much mendacity and twisted reasoning you can fit into three sentences and a fragment thereof.

Another book not to read: Q &A

Fearing a grisly re-enactment of the massacre in the present day, the Amblers and Rev. Henshawe use EKO 6 to locate the unhappy bones of Dunnere, a falconer buried alive by the Danes, and rebury him in consecrated ground. Can a Windows 98 prototype prevent catastrophe?
Windows 98? Beta version?

Nope.

Josh Earnest: clarifying His Randomness' words. Thanks, Josh.

This could have been funny if it weren't so said. Poor Josh E., I swear he is worth his weight in gold, doing a thankless job for a thankless (as usual) government.

Click on the text to embiggen

But the gist of it is simple:
Earnest: There were people other than Jews who were in that deli.
Q: That deli was attacked because it was kosher'?
A: No

The video recording of this scene:

And here Jen Psaki doubles down on Obama's claim that kosher deli attack Was 'Random'

All that mumbling makes it more important to support straight talk like this.

And more on the subject.

This is shocking. God help us.

I don't know whether it's of special interest to the deity. But it's certainly another step in the escalation of so called "anti-Zionism".

THE Durban based Daily News newspaper is reporting that the Durban University of Technology (DUT) SRC has called for the expulsion of all Jews who support Israel, shocking and angering Jewish organisations.

The newspaper quoted the SRC secretary, Mqondisi Duma as saying: "As the SRC, we had a meeting and analysed international politics. We took the decision that Jewish students, especially those who do not support the Palestinian struggle, should deregister."
Don't you love that "especially"?

The headline of this post is chosen from this tweet:

Yeah... God help you, South African Jews. Because no one else would.

Obama and the Refusal to Call a Cat a Cat

The article by Laure Mandeville, the U.S. bureau chief for the French newspaper Le Figaro and a straight shooter, tells it as she is: straight.

For the French, it is almost surreal to see how the White House avoids using the phrase ‘radical Islam.’

In French, we have an expression: “Call a cat a cat.” Appeler un chat un chat. That is exactly what French Prime Minister Manuel Valls did after the horrific terrorist attacks that hit my country on Jan. 7, when he identified “radical Islam” as our enemy. In France, most rallied to this clear acknowledgment of the threat we are dealing with, because it is simply impossible to deny.

That is why it has sounded almost surreal when the Obama administration and many observers in the U.S., despite their heartening support for the French, go to great lengths to insist that the terrorist attack had nothing to do with Islam.

The intention is good: President Obama doesn’t want to mix Islamist terrorists and the wider community of Muslims around the world. He is trying to appeal to Muslims, to prevent them from feeling ostracized. More than ever, the world needs Muslims who wish to live in harmony with non-Muslims.

American POWs in the streets of Donetsk

Local militia paraded in the streets of Donetsk the captured American soldiers, who were taking part in the punitive actions against civilians. Capture of aliens from the NATO Legion fighting in Donbass occurs more frequently in recent years, because the members of the Banderite militia were mostly killed.

Locals angrily spat after the Americans and complained to journalists about Obama.

"Americans drank all dill water* I prepared for my child, and now he is tortured by gases. Obama is jealous of Russia, so he is killing us for our Russian language!" - Complains mother of eight children Marina Fedotova.

"I myself saw a US helicopter that used nets to catch children playing on the football field. Poroshenko doesn't pay me a pension, Obama ordered him not to!" - Cried Zoya Valentinovna, a pensioner.

"I was hiding in the barn from the NATO Legion, then I heard American and Polish languages. They broke into the barn and raped my Manya. One of them held the tail, the other raped. The cow cried during this, her tears rolled down. At night I shod the cow in my valenki** so that she would tread quietly, to save me from the rapists, and galloped away to the militia. Obama is to blame for all this!" - Recalls with horror a former victim of Nato blockade, 96 years old Zinaida Petrovna.

Militia vowed to take its revenge upon the NATO legion, not only for civilians and cattle, but also for Gaddafi and Saddam Hussein. If all American soldiers are imprisoned, it will be possible to build a new Russian world in America without a fight and to save the blacks, humiliated by the capitalists, from their juvenile justice system.

(*) Dill water is considered to be a powerful de-gassing measure.

Our Weasel Of The Week Nominees!!

https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/89/256833910_dc5e794df2.jpg

It's time once again for the Watcher's Council's 'Weasel Of The Week' nominations, where we pick our choices to compete for the award of the famed Golden Weasel to a public figure who particularly deserves to be slimed and mocked for his or her dastardly deeds during the week. Every Tuesday morning, tune in for the Weasel of the Week nominations!

Chocolate Jesus, Ganesh and Buddha - yes. The other one? - not that you will notice.

A mighty interesting shop that:

To New York’s East Village, where you can buy edible chocolate Jesus, Moses, Buddha, Lord Ganesh and the Virgin of Guadalupe.

The edible Mohammad is there somewhere on the shelves, most likely, but spotting him as hard, what his image being banned, and all.
Well, Mohammad is not exactly ranking the same as Jesus, and Moses is also of a somewhat lesser rank that he whose name is forbidden, but let's not nitpick. Anyway, no Mohammad in the picture, no other Muslim VIP.

And, apparently, reps of other religions started to feel slighted by being included too.
Bond Street Chocolate storeowner Lynda Stern was recently asked to discontinue her Lord Ganesh chocolate by Universal Society of Hinduism president Rajan Zed. In a press release, Zed stated, “Upset Hindus urge withdrawal of Lord Ganesh-shaped edible chocolate”…

Stern has dismissed the criticism, saying, “All spiritual icons are treated equally in my shop…with honor and respect to the religion.
All spiritual icons? Beg pardon, but at least one is missing, methinks. And possibly many more, what with the myriad of different religions, but this will be nitpicking indeed.

But at least one can have some fun with that article, especially this bit:
“We Hindus look at the universe as eternal and god almighty as one…so we would not say that the lord resides only in that little piece of chocolate. It’s more like when they eat it, the lord comes back to us — he is within us.”
Generally true, but I am pretty sure that some of what we eat doesn't exactly stay within...

At least the candy for ISIS works 100%:

Bilderberg, Illuminati, Elders of Zion and others in a secret (false flag) plot to force Alex Jones into retirement

The news exploded with a bang - like a secret CIA/Mossad micro-nuke that caused a devastating tsunami in the Indian Ocean (2004) and the award of Nobel Prize in Physics to David J. Gross, H. David Politzer and Frank Wilczek "for the discovery of asymptotic freedom in the theory of the strong interaction". Simultaneously.

Alex Jones, the internationally known trailblazer of new media and icon of the burgeoning liberty movement, makes an unprecedented announcement in this exclusive video. He finally admits……
But let's wait for a few seconds with his admissions. Imagine the magnitude of this event, when the most powerful of truth seekers, at the peak of his investigative powers and of his penetrating genius suddenly declares that he steps away from the mission. That this champion of truth, this nemesis of conspiracy-mongers will no more illuminate the darkest corners, where the darkest powers congregate, connive and conspire. Sad, it is really sad. Not to mention how boring the life will become. At least for a short while, before the Bilderberg/Illuminati/Elders etc, inspired by the removal of their strongest enemy from the scene, get into the open and take over the world (with cooperation of the FEMA with their guillotines, of course).

Devastating news, simply devastating. Now to the particulars of Alex Jones' confession:
He finally admits that he was the iconic comedian Bill Hicks, but reveals that this was only a character, along with the persona of Alex Jones, created by his true self David Mentalson III. The master orator and genius actor David Mentalson III is the real identity of the characters Alex Jones and Bill Hicks, and is stepping into the light to claim his position as the greatest actor in the world.
We (the Elders) have to say that all this is an unfortunate side effect of the mind control rays that we are using to force Alex Jones into retirement. In truth, the real identity of our subject goes even further back into history. Of course, the alleged death year (1945) of Mr Le Pétomane was a pure formality. After application of the Elders' rejuvenation techniques, the man was spirited away, to become what is today known as Alex Jones. Here is a recording of his original performance:

You can establish easily that it doesn't differ significantly from his more recent appearances.

So there...

P.S. The recording of the Alex Jones' "confession":

No, really, CNN - I'll stay put if it's all the same to y'all

Was my first thought upon seeing this two part CNN ad:

What if we meet there? She may call me "activist" or something, and I am allergic to stuff like that.

Does Roger Cohen read New York Times?

No, it is not a rhetoric question, as you may have thought first, seeing the headline. This here blog doesn't deal in idle purposeless questions, not during weekend, at least. If, however, you would like to know whether the Pope uses the Vatican restrooms, you can inquire there. Here we are all about enlightenment.

The reason to be interested in Roger Cohen's reading habits stems from his article Israel Needs a Grown-Up. Leaving aside the rest of its contents, here is a quote that needs clarification:
All have been angered by Netanyahu’s clumsy embrace of a Republican offer to step into the midst of American politics, an invitation accepted without the minimum courtesy of informing the White House.
The article with this sentence was published on February 5, while on January 30 NYT, which is still Roger Cohen's place of gainful employment, published a correction to its previous insinuations, that says:
An earlier version of this article misstated when Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel accepted Speaker John A. Boehner’s invitation to address Congress. He accepted after the administration had been informed of the invitation, not before.
There could be only two explanations of this inconsistency:
  • NYT are too cheap to sent Roger a printed edition for his personal use, seeing as how he is still in exile in London.
  • Roger is not reading NYT at all.
Of course, you might want to hint at a third explanation. But really, folks, this will be going too far, I swear.

And we don't want to go any farther where jolly Roger is concerned, do we?

Sloppy, CNN, very sloppy. Click on the image to see the caption too...

Scandal Rocks the U.N.

"A report on human-rights violations has been compromised not once but twice," says Anne Bayefsky in her remarkable article.

Furthermore, throughout her work for the U.N. Human Rights Council, McGowan Davis has been a member of the board of directors of the American Association of the International Commission of Jurists, which according to its website is “an affiliated organization of the ICJ in Geneva.” The ICJ participated in the July council session that adopted the resolution creating the 2014 Gaza inquiry. Prior to the vote and only two weeks into the war, this group of lawyers made a statement to the council, judging Israel guilty of war crimes and making a specific suggestion: “[T]he ICJ calls on this Council to establish a commission of inquiry to investigate all breaches of international humanitarian law and gross violations of human rights committed during the Israeli military operations in Gaza.”

Not only did the council adopt the ICJ’s recommendation, it appointed a member of the board of directors of the ICJ’s American affiliate to do the job — Mary McGowan Davis.

Three days ago, she accepted Schabas’s chair with alacrity and promised “a report that meets the highest standards of independence and impartiality.”

In what universe?
But read it all, definitely read it all.

Bibi does DC and some US Jews get their panties in a bunch. Is there a case for that?

The trigger for the post was a Facebook entry by Jack Lieberman, a member of a FB groop "Two States for Two People" and, as I gather, an American Jew. The post calls to sign a petition that asks the Congress to cancel Netanyahu’s scheduled talk to Congress and, if the talk is not cancelled, to refuse to attend it.

Before I go into the bits and bytes of the whole story, let me share with you my personal opinion on the planned speech by our dear PM.

  1. Did Bibi time the visit as close to the elections in Israel as possible? Check.
  2. Does Bibi hope that the speech will have a positive (for his party) impact on the electorate? Check.
  3. Did Bibi use his personal relationships (with Boehner, among others) to organize the invitation? Check.
  4. Isn't all  of the above somewhat reprehensible? Check.
But then:
  1. Is Bibi a politician? Check.
  2. Is he like any other politician? Check.
  3. Is he, like any other politician, weighing his every move from the point of view of his personal career enhancement? Check.
  4. Are the (projected) contents of his speech - about a poorly thought through deal the White House is going to sign with Iran - warning the US Congress and the world about a real burning issue? Check.
  5. What is the best timing  for such warning? Yesterday would have been fine.
  6. Don't this visit and speech more or less repeat his 2011 visit and speech? Check.
  7. Is the political and media storm raised by the WH and some democrats around the speech somewhat artificial and reflecting agenda other then purely protocol issues? Check.
  8. Was there really a breach of protocol in the whole invitation process? Not so much anyone could put his/her finger on so far.
Let's start with the petition. First of all, the vehicle of this petition: the Moveon.org. I would advise reading just this Wiki entry that, among other peculiar things about Moveon, includes this brief statement:
Since the 2000 election cycle, the MoveOn PAC has endorsed and supported the campaigns of candidates, including the 2008 candidacy of then-Senator Barack Obama, presidential candidate, nominee of the Democratic Party.
But beyond the Wiki entry, Moveon is quite well know for some activities of more inflammatory kind. Let's leave it at that for now.

Now we can proceed to the chief mover behind the petition: Rep. Keith Ellison. I am not at all sure I want to go into the man's alleged Jihadist sympathies, like some people do. But his dubious past(?) love affair with Nation of Islam and his affinity with CAIR (the Council on American-Islamic Relations) should light up a warning for a Jewish promoter of that petition, at least for one who cares about the State of Israel. And if not the personality of Rep Ellison, then the arguments brought by his initiative against Bibi's appearance in the Congress:
The invitation is controversial for three reasons:
1) contrary to precedent, Boehner did not consult the White House or the House Democratic leadership in scheduling the speech;
2) the speech will be two weeks before the Israeli election, essentially making the U.S. Congress the backdrop for a speech in Netanyahu's re-election campaign, also contrary to precedent; and
3) the express purpose of the speech is to bash President Obama's Iran policy and demand that Congress pass new sanctions on Iran, which would blow up the U.S./Europe-Iran talks and put the U.S. on a path to war with Iran, as European leaders and the Congressional Progressive Caucus have warned.
To address the above points:
  1. Only the author of the above knows what "contrary to precedent" means. So far not a single objector to Bibi's appearance was able to provide a reference to an item in the Congress protocol that enforces a consultation with the White House for such an invitation. Moreover, the pitiful attempt to claim that Bohner didn't notify the WH about the invitation, fell apart quite quickly.
  2. Due to a very selective memory, the author of the item could ill afford to write it. Other Israeli (and non-Israel) leaders were invited and hosted before elections in their countries.
  3. The WH Iran policy will be a separate subject of that post. But re that "demand that Congress pass new sanctions on Iran" - first of all, the Congress has already prepared a (bi-partisan) package of such sanctions Then, where from comes the idea that Bibi will talk about the sanctions? And, besides, how exactly Bibi is supposed to "demand"? Oops, that all-powerful Jewish lobby, I forgot...
As for the current US policy on Iran and the Middle East in general: it strongly looks like the White House has decided to switch US loyalties from its traditional allies in the area to the Ayatollahs' - managed Iran, seeing in Iran a legitimate future partner for several endeavors, the fight against ISIS only the first of them. I would strongly advise the supporters of this course to read the editorial in WaPo on the subject.
The problems raised by authorities... can be summed up in three points:
First, a process that began with the goal of eliminating Iran’s potential to produce nuclear weapons has evolved into a plan to tolerate and restrict that capability.
And it quickly goes downhill from here. Isn't  the leader of a (friendly) country, which is traditionally first on the declared list of Iranian targets for annihilation, owed at least a chance to express his worry in view of his worst fears becoming true? Especially since the executive branch doesn't seem to give a damn about his concerns?

As for the Jewish left wing opponents of Bibi in US: of course, folks, you have the right to be supportive or critical of anything that goes on this planet, including the Israeli leaders and their shenanigans. And of course, you are USA citizens first and anything else is secondary to that. Definitely, if you feel that Bibi's behavior, which I too find somewhat questionable from time to time, was offensive to your Chief Executive, you should denounce Bibi, it is your right and your privilege.

Saying that, however, the distance between criticizing Bibi and signing and promoting a questionable initiative like that Moveon petition is quite large.

In short, people, we here do appreciate your concern about our not-so-perfect democratic institutions and about our  far-from-perfect leaders. We also appreciate your interest and your support.

But this is not the way.

P.S. And it may help some of the overly agitated people to read The Correction.

P.P.S. A telling quote:
That disapproval apparently was orchestrated, or at least strongly encouraged, by the White House through communications with lawmakers connected to the Congressional Black Caucus.

‘I’m not saying the president called anyone personally,’ a current White House staffer told Daily Mail Online.

‘But yeah, the White House sent a message to some at the CBC that they should suddenly be very upset about the speech.’
From here.
